About LUKE

Luke Rogers, a local photographer and graphic designer, has teamed up with Local Honey to bring us his unique perspective of what "You Are Ok" means to him.

Luke, originally from Liverpool, NY has been in Nashville since 2016 after making the trek to attend Belmont University. While working mostly with musicians, Luke's main goal is to make his designs feel timeless and true to each individual's style; pulling inspiration from music, paintings and architecture, and the constants of never ending talent that surrounds him.

Q&A

  1. Where are you from?

I grew up in Liverpool, NY which is right outside of Syracuse. I moved to Nashville in 2016 to attend Belmont, and I’ve lived here ever since!

  2. What inspires your art?

I’d say other art, whether it’s music or painting’s or architecture inspires my art. I draw a lot of inspiration from music, and classic album covers from years ago. My goal with my art is always to make something that I view as timeless, so that’s why I draw a lot of my inspiration from things that are from decades ago.

  3. What does "YOU ARE OK." mean to you? What came to mind when starting this design?

“You Are Ok” to me is one of the most human sayings out there. Everyone has to tell themselves that at a certain point in their lives. It’s a comforting phrase, even if it’s not completely true. It’s also okay to not be ok, but if you can admit that, I think also a part of you that is ok! When I started this design, I just knew that I wanted it to be human focused since the phrase “You Are Ok” is something that we all say. That’s why I chose to do close ups of a face feeling different emotions.

  4. What other creative things are you working on?

Aside from my job as a photographer and designer, I just began the second volume of Guys Zine, which is a magazine I started last year. My goal with the zine is to make a visual outlet for the reinvention of identity with artists that I admire and have never worked with before. It started as a passion project, but after the first volume was released I realized it could be a career path for me. It’ll be out early fall, and I can’t wait for it to be released!

  5. How can someone purchase your art?

People can find my work on my instagram (@lukemrogers) or on my website lukemrogers.com
